MUSIC: Eugene Francis Jnr

Stumbled across this artist recently, and the track posted below kept popping up while listening to music in "shuffle" mode. Each time, I thought "Who the hell is this?"; so that's got to say something about the artist. Culled from similar materials as Quinn Walker and Okay, the UK artist Eugene Francis Jnr is releasing a full length titled The Golden Beatle on Legion in April 2008.

VIDEO: Meanest Man Contest

Gold Robot Records has just released their first proper video, and I'm excited to share it with you. Directed by Greg Tuzin of On the Fly Films, it features Meanest Man Contest doing the title track from their Throwing Away Broken Electronics release. Check out the dancers wearing cardboard boombox heads, the slow-mo shots of shattered televisions, and the enviable dance moves of MMC.

MUSIC: The Morning Benders

New news on local band The Morning Benders (they blog here) has recently surfaced surrounding their upcoming album called Talking Through Tin Cans. They've also got designs on a 7-inch which'll have a non-album b side (and we all know how much macktronic loves vinyl). The full-length, which drops on +1 Records soon, promises to build upon their insanely catchy catalog. Here's a new track they've unleashed on the world.

Now, this is an excellent contest. FADER is offering up one of these super limited edition (rumored to be only 80) hats done in collaboration with Panda Bear and New Era. In addition to the cap, the winner also gets a 1 year subscription to the FADER magazine. The cap, done in traditional Baltimore Orioles colors features a design by Noah Lennox himself (note the Maryland state flag in the panda graphic).

To enter the contest, simply send an email to macktronic (at) gmail (dot) com with the subject line "FADER + PANDA BEAR + NEW ERA CONTEST" including your mailing address in the body of the email.
